ELLESMERE PORT (Boat Museum)  to BACKFORD Half-day trip

Trips from Ellesmere Port leave from the tow path just outside the entrance to the Boat Museum.

On a half day trip you should plan to leave before mid-day;  As there are no places to eat along this stretch of the canal, you should bring your Picnic Lunch to eat on board or on the Canal towpath.

The full day trip to Chester stops in Telfords Basin: There are a number of food options available including the Telford Wharf Pub.

There is ample car parking close to the point of departure.

CHRISTLETON (Cheshire Cat) to TATTENHALL half-say

 BEESTON (SHADY OAK) or CHESTER (Cow lane bridge)* Full day Trip

BEESTON (via Wharton lock) or CHESTER (Telfords wharf) Long day trip

At Christleton, we depart from the Cheshire Cat, just off the A41. The Management of the Cheshire Cat are happy for those taking a trip with us to park on their Car Park however we would ask you to park at a distance from the Hotel once you have set your passengers down. (Parking is at your own risk) 

Trips requiring passage through Locks, can take longer than anticipated depending on canal traffic. On all trips from Christleton you must plan to leave at or before 9.30a.m ; the Half day trip should leave before mid-day.

PRESTON BROOK to LYMM  long day trip

Trips departing from Preston Brook start from the opposite side of the Canal to the boat yard. This trip requires departure at 9.30pm or before. There are a number of Pubs at Lymm where lunch is served.

An alternative journey can be made to the Anderton Lift Lock. This requires a prompt start time as times at Anderton Lift are pre-arranged so that a return to Preston Brook can be made in daylight. This journey also includes travelling through a long tunnel. Expect a long day out!
